Space Tourism Is Getting Cheaper

por Redacción

In terms of technologies that are hyped but never become reality, space tourism is pretty high on the list. Dennis Tito was the first space traveler and his trip cost him $20 million.

Spaceflight companies are making it more affordable. Boeing is developing capsules to transport astronauts to the International Space Station and also to be able of transporting private citizens. The agreement between Boeing and NASA is designed to make the trips more frequent however, they’re still expensive. The flights will cost thousands of dollars each.

SpaceX is trying to make it less expensive. SpaceX’s Interplanetary Transport System could allow people to travel from London to San Francisco within an hour. It will eventually allow people to travel further and with the aim of creating an interplanetary settlement.

As an astronaut, you will be able to experience space in an entirely new way. But that’s a massive commitment: You must complete a two-year training program, and the odds of being chosen are slim. You can still take part in an online simulation. If you want to get a more realistic idea of what it will be like to travel in space, make sure to visit one of the numerous virtual space exhibits that are available online.
